The current demand for audio content on the Internet is huge, which in fact should not be that much of a surprise to you, if you consider for just one minute how many people now own MP3 players and Apple iPods.
And with the rise in popularity of audio books and podcasts, the sheer volume of audio content flooding the Internet is colossal and this is only set to increase. Many websites now cater for audio content, and podcasting is becoming evermore popular within the blogging community as an alternative way to communicate to their readers.
With the huge popularity in audio files, it is easy to understand why so many people perform audio searches everyday.
An audio search is simply the process of searching for audio files on the Internet. This can be accomplished by either using an audio search engine or by using audio directories. There are also other useful alternatives such as streaming audio music sites.
If you want to find audio on the Internet, you have a variety of options to choose from. The easiest way to find what you are looking for specifically is to use an audio search engine.
There are hundreds of audio search engines to choose from and there seems to be new ones being created every other week. Yahoo has its own audio search and it’’s very user friendly. You”ll be able to search for music, podcasts, interviews, newscasts, etc. And you also get to see what the most popular searches are for that day.
Another option is AltaVista’’s audio search engine, where you can perform searches in specific audio file formats such as MP3, WAV, Windows Media, Real Media and AIFF, enabling you to refine your searches very efficiently. Whichever one you choose to use, the process of finding the audio files you desire is relatively easy. If you were looking for a specific song, then you would just type that phrase into the search box.
Specifically designed audio search engines are the fastest and easiest way. However, there are also other options that can be explored, which can be used depending on what you are looking for at the time.
When using audio search engines, you really need to know already exactly what you”re looking for, before you begin. However, there may be occasions when you would prefer to browse around general topics. There are audio search directories that will enable you to do this. These types of sites are very handy as they often organize their content in various ways such as alphabetically, filename, date and artist.
An interesting alternative that is worth trying would be to visit streaming audio music sites such as Pandora.com and Last.fm. Pandora is an awesome site where you are able to design your own personalized music station.
You can also create your own music station at Last.fm, but this is more of a social networking site with audio, which is of course great for meeting people with the same music interests as you. You could spend many hours browsing and listening to music on sites like these.
Another interesting site is the Creative Commons Audio search where you”ll be able to search through audio that has been distributed with the Creative Commons license.
There are several quality multimedia players that you could use to listen to the audios you have found, while performing a new audio search. Most computers come with Windows Media Player installed already, but if you haven”t got it on your machine, there is a free version which you can download.
Windows Media Player is capable of playing pretty much anything; the audio quality is very good and is perfect for listening to your audio files. Another multimedia player worth considering is the RealPlayer. Again, this will play pretty much anything and is also free to download.
