Use Pillar Posts For More Blog Visitors

June 25, 2009 | Read the story »

By Mike Paetzold

Pillar posts are one of the best ways to generate back links and improve the overall ranking of your blog. Pillar posts are the support for your blog. They help to define your topic and act as support for your blog thus the term pillar posts.

A pillar post need to be a good resource that people will want to refer others. The two most common types are a tutorial or a resource list.

It is best to make these on topics that are evergreen. By evergreen I mean something that will still be valuable 3 or 6 months or even 3 years from now. With the internet changing as fast as it is this is not always possible and you can get results from items that are lees likely to last.

As an example Twitter has become huge over the last year but a great Twitter resource list from last year is probably not still valid as the scene is changing their daily. That does not mean that you could not have gotten some great traffic for it over the first few months. It just will not continue to add references like a more evergreen topic.

Make sure that you have done the keyword research for your topic and that your pillar post targets one of your specific keywords.

A great list of Word press plugins would be perfect for my blog about WordPress but the same list would have absolutely no value on my horse training blog. It needs to be on topic for the rest of your blog. Seems like common sense but I have seen people create lists that have absolutely nothing to do about their primary topic just because it was a hot topic.

Resource lists are one of the easier ways to create a pillar post. List the top 10 or any other number of what ever the resources are in your topic. If your blog is on traffic generation then a post explaining the top 10 ways to generate more traffic would be perfect.

For how to, tutorial or instructional pillar posts go in to depth on exactly how to do a specific task. If you are doing it in writing then be sure to include screen captures (if appropriate) to make it even more valuable.

Your how to can also be a video which are quite popular in this day and age. Doing both a written version and a video version on your pillar post topic can make it even more likely that more people will link to your post.

The better the information you share the more likely people are to link to it.

In conclusion adding pillar posts are one of the best ways to generate links back to your blog which will definitely allow you to get more traffic to your blog. So stop reading and go add one to your blog today.

What are these Social Networks?

June 25, 2009 | Read the story »

By Mike Paetzold

Social Networks in the Internet are places where people and even organizations can get connected using a variety of tools, can make up their own Web pages, giving them the power to share interests and/or activities, exploring the interests and activities of others, communicate with their personal networks and spread information. These Online Social Networks have become very popular in the last few years.

The greatest appeal of these Social Networking sites was originally to teens and young adults but they have gradually become more popular with older adults. This attraction of the older generation has happened because many of the Social Networking sites have tried to set themselves up with functions, applications and tools that appeal to more mature spectators.

The content of these sites is relatively inexpensive for publishers to produce. Once set up, the publishers send out messages inviting members of their own personal networks to join the Social Networking site. New members repeat the process by inviting their friends, family and colleagues, thus increasing the total number of members and links in the online networks. Different sites offer different features such as automatic address book updates, viewable profiles, instant messaging services, uploading of music and videos, blogs and the ability to form new links through “introduction services”.

Social Networks can also be organized around business connections, as are sites are like “Shortcut” and “LinkedIn”. These sites also help them discover new businesses, brands and artists.

There have also been concerns about user safety at social network sites because of several widely publicized incidents of cyber stalking. The stalkers became friends with young female users. Because of these incidents, most Social Networking sites restrict Group and Individual Information. For most Social Networking sites, Groups information are visible only to their members, and even within the Groups, a person”s friends and colleagues are described only by their title, not by their name. However some sites still make this information available to the public. Because of these concerns, many more Social Networking sites are adding strict security measures and getting more protective of the individual”s data.

A good Rule-of-Thumb to live by is: “If you put personal information in the internet, it will be viewed by people across the globe”. For any personal information that you want to keep private, the last place you should post it is on the web and especially not on a Social Networking Site.

Social Networking does not only let you add up more friends and reconnect with your loved ones. It can also help you add up possible business partners and/or clients.

Affiliate Marketing with Articles: How and Why to Generate Original Content

June 25, 2009 | Read the story »

By James Slader

Internet marketing is an exciting field. Like any business venture, it requires a lot of work to succeed. Affiliate marketing is a lucrative opportunity with many avenues for growth and profit.

You”ve taken the first step and started an affiliate business. Now comes the fun part: marketing. Placing banners and links on a variety of websites is one way to build traffic. Unfortunately it doesn”t build targeted traffic so the conversion rate is low.

Original Content is Important

Article marketing is easy, fast and affordable. Articles do more than drive traffic to your website. They build backlinks and show that increase your page rank and show that you”re knowledgeable in your field.

Offer potential customers quality content. Don”t publish cheap, sloppy articles. The goal of article marketing is to draw targeted traffic to your site. By providing articles that show your knowledge, you give customers confidence before they even click to view your website. Make sure that your articles are new and original to avoid duplicate content trouble.

Several different methods exist for generating a variety of content. Choose one method, or use them all for the most diverse articles for marketing. Whichever option you choose, remember your goal is to inform and pre-sell.

Write Your Own Articles

If you have a little extra time or enjoy the writing process, this could be for you. Writing your own content is a foolproof way to ensure that you are publishing original, one of a kind content. Establish yourself as an expert in your specialized market. Rework articles and content and give it an original voice. Use your creativity to boost awareness as an affiliate marketer.

Affiliate marketing can be time consuming. Recover a little bit of that time by rewriting content written by someone else. Use the already-written content as an outline and then make it your own. Add your own voice, change the words and give it new life.

Purchase Content from a Writing Service

Ordering content from a professional writing service is another great option. You know your message; let someone else convey it for you. You don”t always have time to sit down and write an article after a long day studying statistics and tracking traffic.

Choose a service that offers a quality guarantee. Most services provide a guarantee that their content is original. It”s created for you, and you can use it without any worries about duplicate content. Make sure the articles you receive are tailored to your terms and are exclusively yours.

Syndicate Prewritten Content

Article directories are full of prewritten content. If you find content you feel passionately about, or that you think conveys your message perfectly, you use it to your advantage. Copy the information and use it on your website.

Your job as a business owner is to make sure that you follow the rules put forth by the article directory. Give credit where credit is due. Follow the copyright rules and provide the site name, author”s name, and a link back to their site. Plagiarism is never a good practice.

In addition, when you reprint articles from other authors, make sure you follow any specifications they list for using their work. Authors are often very picky about where their work appears. They own the rights to their work and may ask at any time to have it removed.

Provide Factual Information

Whatever method you choose, cut the fat. Information included in your articles must focus on the facts your readers are looking for. Information that is not relevant to your affiliate marketing site only hinders your chances of being in the top search engine results.

Search engines look for common threads in order to rank pages. The more cohesion in your information the higher your site will land on the search engine”s results page. Make your article content useful to people interested in your services and relevant to the industry you are a part of.

Publish Everywhere

Find a good article distribution service. Do your research, and look for a distributor that can help you get your article up all over the web. Every article you publish provides links back to your website.

Being unique is one of your biggest advantages. When your content is up to date and innovative, you can go about your business without worrying about duplicate or unoriginal content. Create an article marketing campaign that promotes your affiliate marketing business in a positive light.

10 Tips On How to Assess a Market Opportunity

June 24, 2009 | Read the story »

By Jess Wells

The saving grace of small businesses in tough times may be their ability to be nimble but that doesn”t mean you can act on a whim. There”s due-diligence necessary before you change product lines, expand into new markets, or launch new offers to improve your business.

How do you correctly assess an opportunity? Here are 10 questions to ask before deciding on a new direction:

1. What is the current margin on the products or services in this new space? Is it better than the profitability of your current endeavor? When margins are tight, look for a space where the margins are traditionally fatter. Volume won”t make up for slim margins.

2. Could you use established procedures for the new product, or the new market? Starting from scratch involves a lot of learning, which costs a lot of time and money.

3. Can you use current employees to fulfill the new market demand? If you need to train or source new employees, you”ll have a delay in implementation, increased costs and all the growing pains of bringing on staff.

4. Are your current vendors capable of providing the products and services you need? Established vendors that you trust can help guide you, give you tips on materials, let you know whether they see success in the product line by the amount of inventory they move, and may be more willing than a new vendor to allow you to dabble.

5. Will you be selling to customers who are the same or similar to your current customers? Do you know how to speak to them? Do you know their pains and desires?

6. Is the new product or service perceived as a luxury? Consumers are being very frugal now: is the new product a luxury, or less expensive than the alternative?

7. Is it a market niche in which you currently have a visible name? Does your standing in your current marketplace translate well in the new space? You want to take your reputation with you, not have to start from scratch.

8. Will the new product line enhance the look of your web site, your catalog? Introducing a high-end line to an existing product suite may actually bolster the reputation of the entire line. Adding an economical alternative may also keep you competitive. Expanding your existing line-up is easier, faster, and more efficient than having to devise a whole new logo, web site etc.

9. Is the new market one you would like to serve when the economy improves? While providing a “recession special” of reduced pricing might be a short-term win, developing a market space that will be even more lucrative when the economy picks up again makes better long-term sense.

10. Are you passionate about doing it? Having a new venture that gives you a sense of wonder and excitement can make all the difference in making it through a tough economy. Remember when building your business was fun? What would you give for that feeling again?

Right now, large amounts of entrepreneurs are turning to the internet to start a business. Entrepreneurs see all of the opportunities the internet has to offer, and they dive in so they can become successful quickly. Many people have become stumped, though, whenever they start operating their virtual business. They don”t know how to properly position themselves to run an online business, and because of that they are not as competitive as they could be. In order to run an online business, people must be able to effectively control both inner and outer factors.

The first thing an online business owner must do is take a look at the inner factors that can affect his business. Every successful online business owner is self empowered. Self empowerment and self awareness allow people to be in control and take on the type of business they desire. Your need to take the time to understand your core values, as well as your vision and purpose. These will become the foundation for your business.

Each business owner has an idea of what he wants, but the problem is they bury that idea behind the logistics of creating the business and getting it off the ground. That is why so many businesses fail. To avoid failure, you must dig deep within yourself and realize who you are, what you want, and the type of business you wish to grow.

After you understand the inner factors that can affect your business, it is then time to take a look at the outside factors. You have to find a way to allow the internet to work for you, and that is where internet marketing comes into play.

Internet marketing allows businesses to develop a web presence. That presence can easily make them a household name, and it can also funnel traffic to their website.

By doing this, you are able to grow and cultivate your business. You can use the internet to get more clients and become very successful in the processes. Internet marketing will actually bring the money to your company. You cannot possibly survive in the online world if you do not use internet marketing.

When you create a virtual business, you are one of millions of websites and billions of products. With the right marketing, your website and products can be on the front page of all the search engines. You can be a new company and still get more exposure than established companies. It is all about marketing. A good marketing plan can take your business to the next level.

When you work on the inner and outer factors, you can build a strong business. It is important to understand that internet marketing will not work on its own, and neither will self empowerment. You have to know your direction in order to market yourself, just as you have to market yourself to get the most out of your desired direction.

It is critical to an online business”s success to have the right information and the right support-education and training-to help people find their right path and use the right tools. If you incorporate the inner and outer strategies for your business, you can become incredibly successful. Being successful on the internet is not about luck. Instead, it is about proven strategies that can put your business on top.

Affiliate Marketing Success for Your Small Business

June 24, 2009 | Read the story »

By Carolyn Anderson

There are several tools online that you can use to advertise your business. Even if you have a small business, online advertising is seen to be friendly to your budget. Cost-effective advertising methods are just everywhere, but be careful though, as a badly managed online advertising campaign can also hurt your budget.

Affiliate marketing is one option that you can actually engage to promote and sell your products online. Many internet marketers and online businesses, like Amazon.com, have achieved affiliate marketing success and until now, it is seen to be a good advertising method.

What makes it good is that, you are only paying the affiliates if they can send in a customer to your small business. Unlike pay per click and search engine optimization, affiliate marketing does not only benefit you through the traffic brought to your site, but you will also be paying for advertising only if there is a purchase made by the potential customer. This makes affiliate programs appealing to businesses.

Aside from that, affiliate marketing success means advertising for your product in hundreds of different websites in the internet without any advertising cost. You only pay commissions for a sale.

If you want to get into affiliate programs to advertise your product, you may find these little things your keys to affiliate marketing success.

* Make a variety of advertisements. It makes a lot of difference if you are letting different affiliates promote your product in a variety of ways. Not only can affiliates choose what ads fit their websites, but it can also make your ads work for different kinds of people.

* Do not ignore the smaller affiliates. Smaller affiliates are also important part of your advertising campaign, especially if a number of your major affiliates will leave you. Smaller affiliates from numerous sites can still be a good picture of your affiliate program. It is also essential that you continue to add affiliates to your program so you will have a steady stream of customers, whether some affiliates come and go.

* You can motivate an affiliate especially those important affiliates by giving incentives and bonuses, like a bonus on the first sale or a special commission – or any creative way to motivate them in joining your program.

* Before rushing to make your own affiliate program, be sure to calculate your commission offers and your product price. Take note also of how much you can give as the highest commission and how much you can give if you intend to give an increase in commission.

* Do not forget the inactive affiliates. If you have hundreds of smaller affiliates and they are not quite giving a sale for some time, do not just forget about them. You can motivate them to work on their ads and help with any issues they are facing. A little motivation may bring about great results.

If you choose to promote your product through affiliate marketing, you can also get various support and services from affiliate marketing companies such as handling your affiliates. If you properly manage your advertising campaign, affiliates will surely make extra efforts to promote your product as they maximize their potential in making money as well. Affiliate marketing success indeed relies much on a properly handled program.

Start a Landscaping Service Business

June 24, 2009 | Read the story »

By Lisa Paredes

Starting a landscaping service business is one of the most lucrative business options around. It is not only a rewarding option, it is also one of the easiest businesses to start and be successful in. The business hardly requires any capital to be invested and does not involve any overhead costs too. So if landscaping interests you and you feel that you have the dynamism then do go ahead and give it a try.

The Concept

Starting a landscaping service business would require you to know the basics about gardening and landscaping. If you feel that you are not proficient enough with the basics then the best way to learn some more about the profession is to go through e-books on the Internet. Make sure that the book description tells you all about gardening, landscaping and interior scaping.

Once you have acquired the basics you would be ready to get started. At the starter level you would need to have a truck (to carry your equipment) and the tools that include watering cans, lawn mower, broom, rake and other assorted hand tools. If you are low on investment then rent the equipment and buy them later.

The main source of income for entrepreneur landscapers is from clean ups. Here you would be required to visit an overgrown landscape. Your job would be to clean the land of all overgrown plants and shrubs and get rid of the debris as well. The job pays quite well and hardly requires any labor. Start by taking up residential projects and move on to commercial ones later. Remain updated and have a proper understanding of the trade to gain enough profits.

Startup Cost

The startup cost of starting a landscaping service business is close to nil. However you would require spending some amount on renting or buying the landscaping equipment. You would also need to have a business license from your city. So check all state and federal rules and have the requirements in place before you start.

If your business can afford to, do get an insurance cover before you start. If you cannot afford insurance at the first go then make sure that you get one as soon as possible.

Marketing Your Landscaping Service Business

The best way to market your landscaping business would be via word-of-mouth. You can also consider going door-to-door. Speak to interested neighbors and shopping mall owners. Both these methods of marketing your business are cheap but time consuming. However, they are also the best means to gain more clients in and around your home.

You can also consider flyers, newspaper advertisements and the Yellow pages. These methods are less time consuming and extremely effective. At the same time also try to use direct mail to weekly contact specific zip code zones.

To acquire commercial projects you would need to print advertisements in local business and monthly magazines. Make sure that the reader base for these magazines includes the upper income class of your city.

Best of Luck.

Guidelines & Tips for Writing an Article

June 24, 2009 | Read the story »

By Tanya Daly

In internet marketing there are many ways to reach your target audience. You could try pay-per-click marketing, blogging, forum posting, or a number of other strategies to accomplish your means. However, one of the most overlooked and effective methods of reaching people is through article marketing. Article marketing establishes you as an expert in your field. It creates trust with your prospects and it generates traffic to your website. The best part about all of it is that its free. However, some people have no idea how to write a proper article. How do you go about writing an article? Let”s look at the basics behind it.

The first thing you need to do is zero in on your topic. In every aspect of internet marketing you need to figure out why you”re writing an article. What are you trying to accomplish and what exactly do you want to write about? Many people will just muddle through an article and never really write about anything. They don”t offer any information or go anywhere with the article. This is something that you need to avoid at all costs.

Once you”ve determined what you want to write about, you need to organize your content. Internet marketing is all about information flow. You want your article to flow from beginning to end. If you just throw out a bunch of random facts without ever going anywhere with it, your audience will probably stop reading the article. If they read the entire article, they”ll probably lose respect for you and never buy into your system. It is usually a good idea to do a rough outline before you get started. This way, you can just refer back to the outline whenever you”re writing the article. It will keep everything flowing nicely in the right direction.

Once your content is organized, you need to create a strong headline. A headline is the first thing that prospective readers will see and it is critical in internet marketing. They will often decide whether to read your article based solely on the headline. If it doesn”t appeal to them, they”ll just keep moving on to the next article. If you want the most people to read your article, you”ll need an attention-grabbing headline.

Now that you”ve done all of that, you”re now ready to start writing. If you”ve done everything else, this should be the easy part. Just follow your outline and start cranking out the content. It”s very important that you write like you talk. If you don”t use a lot of big words in real life, don”t try and write that way. It will feel unnatural and choppy. You need to make it feel as natural as possible, like you”re talking to an old friend. When internet marketing works the best, it feels like you”re friends with the person who wrote the article. Its all about developing relationships with your prospective partners.

Overall, internet marketing is easy with the help of articles. You can reach a large audience and generate free traffic for your site. Get started today with article marketing.

How SEO Services Must Focus on Keywords

June 24, 2009 | Read the story »

By Rahman Mehraby

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services improve the position of websites based on the key phrases they target. The optimization process must always consider such words as its road map. As an initial step in any SEO services, a thorough keyword research should be performed to build up a keyword basket. Then, the actual work will begin inside or outside the website.

The Type of Keywords to Use

It”s extremely vital to find out what keyphrases your target market is searching for. Then, you should use them at your webpages as well as within the links you get from other websites. This step should start before you build a website, because it could play an important role in choosing a proper domain name, write textual content, decide the wordings of the URLs, etc.

Some websites owners create content in a varied scope of their interests. Do you have a certain niche and create content only around the topic you like? If your response is positive, you”re on the right track. If you are specialized in one field or interested in one topic, and write only about it at your website/blog, You”ve identified your niche.

The next step will be to realize what keywords people use in search engines to find the information you publish, product you sell or service you provide from your website. Once you settle on such set of key phrases, you have the roadmap to start your SEO works.

You target those words or phrases in order to rank highly for them in search engines. Otherwise, your optimization process will get you nowhere. The research for this set of phrases should become your periodic part of the whole process of search engine optimization. For instance, at least conduct it every three months.

Let me add a point here: you shouldn”t target a different set of words at your optimized pages unless you”re totally confident that it”s useless to have high search engine ranking for them. Obviously, this cannot be the case if a proper SEO service has been conducted prior to search engine optimization process.

Implementation of Keyphrase Research Results

Now that you”ve got the keyword basket, your textual content should be created based on them. You should choose a topic and use a few key phrase to develop content for it. Then, use those phrases in the title, meta data, meta tags, internal linking, incoming links, etc.

When you publish the content at your site, blog, forum, etc, use social media to lead human readers and search engines to follow keyword-rich links to that particular content. Reinforce your content with article marketing and add links to your pages. Increase web awareness of your information, product, service by publishing press releases and news stories about what you”ve got to offer.

This brings search engines to your content, link popularity of your site will increase and visitors come to your site, because they find you easily at search results.
