How to Use Google Book Search to Sell More Books

Google Book Search is one of the lesser known of the Google properties. If you”re an author looking for additional exposure for your book, or you want to know what books are in the public domain, then this site is for you.
What Google Book Search allows you to do is to include your book in this special search engine. When readers type in keywords that are related to your topic, or related to information within your book, your book will show up.
Google also includes reference pages related to the books they offer. This provides additional content for your readers to read, but it also allows your readers to see if there are any reviews, web references, maps, or other content related to your book.
There”s also a way for readers to find out how they can get your book, whether they want to buy it or check it out from their local library.
Your first step in getting started with this program is to sign up for an account with Google, which is free. Go to the resource section for Book search and read the section titled “Resources for publishers and authors.” This will help you more fully understand the program and do a better job of setting up your listing.
Google also offers several downloads you may download and read at your leisure that further explain their different promotional programs, including Book Search. (Don”t neglect understanding how this program works. It will help you sell more books.)
When you are ready to submit, you need to sign into your account. Unlike some of Google”s other programs, this one requires that you apply for an additional account. Submitting to Book Search is not part of your basic Google account.
You will need to complete the application to add Google Book Search to your Google account.
If you are an author who published your book through a publisher, you will want to check with your publisher first. Your publisher may already have a Book Search account, or there may be something in your agreement that prevents you from submitting to Book Search.
Once your application is approved, then start submitting your books. Make sure you follow the terms and conditions of the program, as well as reading any additional material that Google offers.

SEO: Watching Out For Search Engine Keyword Trends

When you have worked hard to optimise your web site and you have achieved the rankings you”ve been looking for, you”ll be glad to sit back and relax and wait for the orders to come flooding in. The jobs done isn”t it? Well perhaps not, because you need to be aware that the trends in SEO keywords can change and your traffic strategy needs to change with it.
All too often a particular keyword can be ”in vogue” or fashionable because of something that”s happening in the news. Something else to be wary of is that trends are affected by geography so when you do your keyword research don”t assume that worldwide trends are reflected in your geography.
Search engine trends I”ve experienced recently include the market for chinese slimming tea. There are various types of chinese slimming tea, and these include Wu Long Tea (also known as Oolong tea) and Pu”erh tea.
The SEO trends in the popularity of these teas is very dependent on which celebrities are currently extolling their virtues. Hence at various times Wu Long Tea has been very popular in the US, whilst it enjoyed a brief moment of popularity in the UK, and Pu”erh tea is more popular in the UK than the US. Also Wu Long tea is now much less popular as a search term in the UK, than the alternative Oolong tea spelling.
In SEO Search Engine terms these are insecure foundations to build a business on, and you need to be aware of this, and flexible enough with your strategy. It”s not easy to change your keyword strategy all the time because you”ve invested in building backlinks with the keywords in the text. So there are two major lessons I would take from this discussion.
Firstly in terms of SEO keywords, stay on top of the analysis. Don”t assume that the figures won”t change. Keep a record of the changes from month to month, and spot the trends early.
Most importantly, spread your strategy across different phrases, and try to include some that aren”t so affected by trends. For example ”slimming tea” or ”diet tea” have not been affected by trends in the same way that the individual types of tea have.
There is a fine line then, between using terms that won”t be adversely affected by trends, and using terms that are too general and will lose focus for your niche market.

There are money making opportunities all around you, though you may not realize it. For example, people are always willing to pay to have their lawn mowed or their snow shoveled. Some malls pay people to take surveys, or to ask others to take surveys. You can make a little money off something as simple as a lottery ticket. Cleaning homes, babysitting, caring for the elderly, and helping a friend move are all examples of easy ways to make a few extra bucks. If you”re good with a camera, land a gig photographing a rock band, wedding, senior prom, or other things.
Get creative.
A large mistake that people make is wanting the big bucks right off the bat. So in order to try and do this, they will set unrealistically high goals for themselves things they often cannot acheive right away. Once they don”t succeed, they get discouraged. Many people don”t realize the money making opportunities around them. You don”t have to be a rock star or the manager of a huge company in order to make money. Open your eyes to the world around you. Anything that has been manufactured, written, photographed, etc., there is someone that did it. And you can do it too. It takes a little effort, searching, and perseverance to make money, but keep your eyes open to money making opportunities around you. If you get one, don”t pass it up. Take it.

The Way Search Engines Work

By far, the best way to understand search engine optimization is to understand how the search engines work. This is not an article for SEO dummies, so I presume we all know what search engines are.
A search engine like Google which happens to be the God of all SEs has four major operations involved for it to provide its users the credible research results when they look for information on it.
You might be confused on how these search engines can figure out which sites are credible and which ones are not. They do this through a process called crawling. These SEs run an automated program where ”spiders” or ”bots” crawl the pages and documents in the World Wide Web by using the hyperlink structure of the web. It has been revealed that out of 20 billion pages spiders crawl about 8 to 10 billion of it.
Next to the crawling part is the indexing. When all the pages are crawled, some of them valuable ones can be indexed or stored for example in Google”s giant database of documents that make up the SEs index. They have a critical role to play hence they should be managed properly so that each time a user performs a task on the SE which requires searching and sorting out of information, it will only take a fraction of a second to display.
Once, the database is filled with all relevant information it has crawled and once a user asks for information on the SE, all matched documents stored in the index will be displayed on the SE. When we say match, it means documents that contain the words or phrases that the user typed in the search engine. It is very sensitive in that it follows a system called Findall mode. In this system, let”s say for example you type the words ”houses and cars.” Its search result is 30,300,000, but when the words are enclosed in quotation marks it will give out a search result of 181,000. In the first case, it gives out documents that have the words houses and cars but it won”t read the conjunction and while in the second case, the quotation marks set out the exact words houses and cars, which limits the number of documents.
Then just to ensure that the user can get the matched information on his search, the SE has a ranking system. With the use of its algorithms (a mathematical equation used for sorting), the SE runs a calculation to determine which is the most relevant to the given query. They sort it out from the most relevant to the least, and that”s what you see in your screen. That way you can choose which one to read first.
Search engine optimization and Internet marketing initiatives will be laid to waste without knowledge on this. So you are a lucky one.
