Using Targeting to Maximize Your Pay Per Click Performance

April 28, 2008 | Read the story »

By Jerry Work

Targeting is the process of displaying your marketing message in front of groups of people who are the most likely to want to do business with you. The most obvious targeting decision for paid search is in what geographic markets to run your ads. Sometimes this is an easier decision than others.

If you operate at a local level, and all of your customers are within your local market, then it makes no sense to advertise nationally. You will just waste your money. In this instance, it makes much more sense to concentrate your budget on your home market. The major search engines each have a way for you to specify that your ads should only be shown on Web browsers that are located within specific markets.

If you operate on a regional basis, then you should specify only geographic markets that are within the region you service. One decision is if you should combine all of your markets into the same campaign or run a separate campaign for each one. The single campaign option is quicker, but you have more control and will generate better data with separate campaigns.

For instance, it might turn out that there are certain geographic markets that are much more profitable than others. In this case, you would generate a higher ROI by focusing your budget on the more profitable markets. The only way to do that is to have separate campaigns running for each market.

The same holds true for those marketing on a nationwide basis. The problem here is that maintaining a separate campaign for each market could result in an unrealistically high number of campaigns. A better option here might be to set up larger geographic markets that encompass several cities or even states. This will still allow you to generate geographic performance data. You just might have to work harder to extrapolate that data.

In Google, there is another advantage to geographic targeting, and that is that Google paid search listings display the market name if an ad has been specifically targeted for that market. For instance, if I run ads in a campaign targeted to Tennessee, Google users in Tennessee who see my ad will see the word “Tennessee” beneath the ad copy. This points out that I am an advertiser specifically advertising to people in Tennessee, rather than a nationwide advertiser. This could help with clicks and conversions.

Another way to target your campaigns is by day of week or time of day. If you are in an industry with abundant keyword inventory, then this might be an excellent targeting strategy for you. It may be the case that during business hours you are competing against many other advertisers, which is driving click costs up past the point of profitability. In this instance, it might be a good move to try only running your ads during non-peak hours. You may find that you can still buy plenty of traffic, but that traffic may cost much less on a per-click basis.

Or maybe there are certain days of the week that are more profitable. If you can generate reports showing your account performance at different times and on different days, then this might give you the data you need to make these kinds of decisions. Otherwise, you will have to test your ads at different times to compare performance.

Targeting can help make your pay per click campaigns much more effective. Although it takes some time generate and analyze the data you need, it is an important part of the process of maximizing your paid search return on investment.

Craigslist—Unclassified Marketing Success

April 28, 2008 | Read the story »

By Donald Howsden

A somewhat controversial website from the web 2.0 point of view, Craigslist is used by thousands to market both websites and products. It has, however, had many forms over the past several years. Its most recent incarnation, complete with an interactive interface and a platform geared toward marketing, though, allows it to make a serious impact on your overall marketing efforts.

Founded in the mid-nineties by Craig Newmark, Craigslist”s primary focus was the San Francisco area. These days, though, it serves more than four hundred and fifty different cities. With nearly nine billion page views every single month, it”s certainly an avenue to consider in your overall marketing plan. From personal ads to job listings to services, no matter what your product line, there”s a spot for you on Craigslist.

The Initial Craigslist Setup Process

Getting started at Craigslist is perhaps one of the easiest jobs you”ll ever have on your list of marketing tasks. Craigslist revolves around the idea of making posts to the website, all of which are then viewed by other individuals. To get started, all you really have to do to be able to post is confirm an e-mail address and fill in a security code in order to ensure that you are not a robot. There is no complicated profile to fill out, and there is very little work to do in order to build your account; it is simply a matter of posting material to the different areas of Craigslist.

Your Craiglist Marketing Plan

In many ways, Craigslist may be the most interesting part of your marketing plan. You literally have hundreds of marketing options on this site. If you”ve never stopped by before, it might help to understand the site itself. The whole website is a series of different posts people read. Posts separated by categories. For example, if you run a copywriting service, you could easily place a listing in the “Services” category. If you sell chainsaws, you could place a listing in the “for sale” category. Because there are subcategories within each larger category, finding a home for your post won”t be a problem.

The key to really being successful at Craigslist is combining the format of the website with creative thinking. You have to consider exactly how you can reach people in a way that melds within the format of the site. For example, if you are selling an e-book about how to make money online through writing articles for websites, you might consider placing a job post in the online writing section. After all, your ebook could one day lead to them finding the perfect job in that category. You can also advertise your e-book in the “for sale” sections, and perhaps have a promotional online meeting that you can advertise in the events section.

If you are interested in trying to get money through affiliate marketing, take a look at the “requested” section of Craigslist. Look for people who want what you”re selling and then e-mail them with an offer. If you sign up for an affiliate account at Amazon, you could potentially do this to everyone who posts provided that you can find what they are looking for on Amazon and send the link to them.

In most cases, however, it is really the things like advertising events and items for sale that bring people to your website. You do not have to be sly in order to bring people to your website this way. Be honest about what is available on your website, categorize your post appropriately, and you should see a terrific amount of traffic from Craigslist.

Tips To Help You Making The Three Most Common Mistakes In Affiliate Marketing

April 27, 2008 | Read the story »

By Kenneth Scott

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning money online. This program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet. They are easy to join and implement and pay a commission on a regular basis.

Like all businesses, however, there are lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Instead of making some of the most common mistakes marketers make that take a large portion from their profit, it”s better to avoid them than be regretful.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. But, in their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a product that is in demand without actually considering whether the product has appeal. This is not very wise.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try to choose a product that interests you. For this to succeed, you have to take some time to plan your actions.

Pick a product that appeals to you, then do some research about the product to see if it”s in demand. Promoting a product you like is easier than promoting a product just for the money.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might want to join many affiliate programs to try and maximize your earnings. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will keep you from giving each one the attention it requires.

The result? Your affiliate program will not reach its maximum potential, and the income it generates will not be what you expected. To get the best results, join just one program that pays at least a 40% commission. Then give it your best effort by promoting your products enthusiastically. As soon as this one is making a reasonable profit, then you can join another affiliate program. “Slowly but surely” seems to be the required technique for affiliate marketing.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, your main purpose is to promote a product or service and to find customers. To achieve this, you have to know what you”re selling!

Try the product or service personally before you sign up as an affiliate. If you have tried it, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers will then feel your sincerity and truthfulness. This will trigger them to try the product or service.

Many affiliate marketers made these mistakes and are paying dearly. Try to do everything to avoid making the same mistakes.

Time is the key. Take the time to analyze your marketing strategy and see if you are on the right track. If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program and earn higher profits.

Don\’t Wait For Success To Find You

By Todd Ash

Personal growth has never been so attainable and affordable. Personally I think there”s a great need for that in our culture, and it just feels good to be there for other people when you know how important it is to be that way.

Personally I find being happy with ones life takes care of nearly all jealousy issues. Jealousy is a cocktail of envy and covetousness and neurosis, but if you have a life in which you are happy, it”s difficult to be either envious or covetous, since that would imply dissatisfaction with your own life (I”m still neurotic from time to time).

Students are being increasingly exposed to a holistic approach with meditation, yoga and prayer included as regular fare. There is an attempt to combine the best of occidental practicality with ancient oriental wisdom. Students who often fail are likely to attribute their failures to a lack of ability, the difficulty of the task, and luck.

In essence, they see their failures as beyond their control. Students are bombarded daily with credit card offers and philanthropic requests while employers are trying to communicate with them to fill their ranks with top-tier talent. The market is so saturated that investing dollars and effort may not guarantee success, but innovative strategizing will.

Success is all about having the right mindset. With the right mindset you can achieve anything. Success is very often a short-lived high. People arrive at the goal line in life, look into the end zone and discover that it contains many of the things that money will buy, but it contains very little of what money won”t buy. Success doesnt always mean winning. There are other ways to win, rather than winning “the game”.

Being successful is all about what you want to happen and what you choose to make out of your success.Being successful is every person”s dream. Everyone of us wants to be successful in our career, family and in our total being. Being successful is a skill you can learn.

Whatever you do, in your personal life and in business, give the best of yourself. If you apply your best effort in your business, success will easily come to you. Whatever you like to do is what you are going to be able to do best. I like creating concepts, but I don”t like to get involved in the day-to-day operations.

Being successful is referred to as breaking into show business.Being successful is not only about hard work, but mostly you need to learn to visualize your success and make it happen. Being successful is fun! Your single state may not be permanent but, it definitely is not to be in a comatose or paralytic state until the person of your desires arrives.

Putting Your Web Site on the Internet

April 27, 2008 | Read the story »

By Steven Sharpe

You need a web server to put your web site on the internet. Sometimes, owning and maintaining a web server can cost money and it requires someone who knows what they are doing to maintain the server and the web-site.

However, you do not need to own your own server, a web host can do this for you. They provide equipment and other technical programs that are required to allow a customer to build a web site. These hosting companies charge a monthly fee for storing your web site and allowing your web site to be seen on the internet.

Within that fee, it allows web site visitor traffic to flow through their servers so that internet users can view your web site on the internet.

The physical web server does not reside at the consumers home or business, which means that the web host services are designated as outsourced services. This means that the hosting organization that you choose has the responsibility of maintaining your site structure, files and web pages. If the server goes down it is their job to ensure it is back up and running with minimal loss of service to your website.

Many web hosts provide excellent services that really assist individuals and business owners. All the weight of maintaining the host servers and applications fall on the hosting company and not the individual and as a business owner, this is great because there are so many technical routines that you have to do daily to maintain a server. Leave it to someone else and focus on your main business.

When you pick a web host to handle your internet server needs, you will achieve the following:

You streamline your internet costs getting the maximum from your hosting provider

Work with knowledgeable technicians;

You pass IT control functions to the host so you won”t have to worry about maintaining servers and other equipment.

You can self publish your site and use the web host to handle the technical aspects of server management. The host that you choose will give you the capability to load your own web site on to the server and allow you to process updates and revisions to your web page.

Web hosting doesn”t include developing your site (unless they have a special development program) or the development of certain customized programs. You have to develop the programs (web-site or server side code) yourself or have someone do it for you. Although if you are only looking to put a basic business information page or personal page up, the majority of hosts have some kind of site builder software installed in your cPanel for you to use.

If you are a relatively newbie to web hosting, I would recommend going for a Linux based package which includes the cPanel software as it is relatively easy to use and contains some excellent add on scripts, including various forms of site builder software.

Steve has been building web sites for a number of years and uses Linux/cPanel based hosting on every single one. He runs a website entitled Cool Net Host which identifies the best web hosts on the internet today.

Tips on Affiliate Marketing Solutions for Websites

April 27, 2008 | Read the story »

By John Hartley

Now that it is essential to have a website to work as an affiliate, the big problem is how to get traffic to that website. First, of course, you need to get a domain name and find a reliable web host, both of which cost very little.

Target a very small niche

Once you have your website, and you are targeting a sub-niche such as ”American Moths” or something, you need to make that website comply with the requirements of the search engines. To do this make sure that each page has its own title tag and meta description tag. If you are not sure what these are, Google for these terms and you will soon find answers.

The first thing to be said is that because you build it people will NOT come. You have to get in the places where they can find you. There are three affiliate marketing solutions here:

1.Rank well on the search engines for your sub-niche keywords, but not try to rank for the main keywords, even though you will want a page or two about them.
2.Advertise on Adwords or MSN or Yahoo Search Marketing
3.Write articles and submit them to the article websites

It is not too easy to rank highly for even sub-niche keywords, but to do so make sure that you have enough articles on the site to cover your subject. Don”t just have one page recommending the product you are marketing.

Secondly, submit the site to 100 minor directories, avoiding those that ask for payment or a reciprocal link. You will find there are directories of directories listed in Google.

Set up a blog to make sure your site is indexed

Thirdly, set up a blog on your site, with a link to the index page, and ping that to the ping services, which broadcast the presence of new blogs to the internet. With Fantastico, you can set up a blog in about two minutes.

Why not make your affiliate marketing website just a blog? The format of blogs is not so good when you want people to be able go from an article about your subject to the affiliate recommendation page quickly and easily. There are other limitations which make blogs less useful for affiliate marketing, although they are very useful for other forms of marketing.

If you decide to advertise here are some important tips:

1.Set an end date to each advert, and renew it if it is successful. This stops you from spending too much money.
2.Always use two adverts, with each getting the same number of clicks so you can see which is the best one. Replace the worst performer with a new advert regularly.
3.Set daily and monthly maximum budgets.
4.Advertise for exact match or phrase match only. For exact match the key phrase is put in like this: “key phrase”. Phrase match is put in like this [key phrase]. This results in more targeted results, and will save a lot in advertising costs.

A good way to get links to your site and direct traffic is to write articles about your niche. You submit these to article sites like goarticles, and then they list them, which gives a link. Then, some webmasters will put the articles on their sites, giving you more links. In addition, some people who read the articles will click on the link in your bio and visit your site. This is a good way of getting traffic to your website, and does not cost money, just a bit of effort.

These affiliate marketing solutions to what to do with your website will make it into a money-maker, although it will take time. Advertising is of course the quickest, but most expensive way.

Display Fixture Tips & Guide

April 27, 2008 | Read the story »

By Kyle Newton

Before buying store fixtures and display merchandise for a retail store, there are initially a number of things to consider when deciding how to make the best choice? Starting ahead a new retail store, some considerations would be: Product niche – must sell a product that is in demand, which customers are looking to buy.

Must know four customers – know your customers, and offer excellent service to build customer loyalty. Be loyal to the competition – which is your competitors, and what products and services are they offering. Best location – what is the best, affordable location, in order for customers to find and visit you.

While visually merchandising a retail store with store fixtures and display merchandise, some areas to take into account are: Wall Displays – slat-wall panels and fixtures, grid-wall panels and displays, slotted wall standards, face-outs, hang-rails, and shelving. The Floor Fixtures – grid-wall panels and accessories, garment racks, display cases and counters, metal shelving gondolas, floor and cube merchandisers.

All Display Products – mannequins and body forms, clear acrylic displays, countertop and jewelry displays. Best Supplies & Equipment – hangers and steamers, tagging supplies and labelers, packaging and shopping bags. Almost all Promotional Items – window signs and banners, sign holders and sign cards, sale tags and tickets. All the Lighting Fixtures like track lighting and accessories, rope lights and the Security Equipment – security cameras and mirrors, entry alert chimes, security chains, crowd control systems.

In wall displays the Slat-wall is the most popular wall system to display merchandise and maximize total use of wall areas. These panels and accessories allow complete versatility to display merchandise anywhere on the panel. With respect to vision, the look of slat-wall is very eye appealing, giving a clean, streamlined look. Slat-wall accessories fit in grooves anywhere on the panel, allowing you to set up displays exactly how you want them.

Slat-wall panels are shipped by truck line. The panels are 4 ft high x 8 ft wide, with horizontal grooves running in the 8 ft direction. These Grooves are spaced every 3″ apart. Its installation, mount panels to stud walls using counter-sunk flat-head drywall screws through the grooves. Then drive a screw into every stud horizontally, and into every third groove vertically. And to cut panels with a hand power saw, use a fine plywood blade and cut from the back of panel to avoid chipping the laminate surface.

These Slotted wall standards are a long established, effective means of displaying heavier merchandise, allowing you to display more merchandise on wall areas. They Display hardware accessories such as shelving brackets, hang-rail brackets, and face-outs provide organized, effective merchandise presentation. The slotted wall standards are available in regular-duty for medium weight loads, and heavy-duty for heavier items. For their installation, simply screw the standards into the wall studs.

Why The Uneducated Need SEO Specialists

April 26, 2008 | Read the story »

By Thomas Pretty

Anyone who has been working within the SEO industry for any length of time will tell you that SEO is not a quick fix solution. To become truly powerful and gain those page one rankings you so hotly desire takes a great deal of time and once at the top it is an never ending effort to stay at the top. This process can take months, and for the more competitive phrases can take years.

By applying a coherent SEO method it is possible to achieve results. If you want high rankings in a short space of time it may be tempting to take paths that are not deemed ethical. This is also known as black hat SEO and as a rule should be avoided at all costs. Have a consistent strategy that has been proven may take more time but the results will, on the whole be more rewarding. The pursuit of quick fixes is a plan usually undertaken by the uneducated. A specialist SEO worker will be able to tell you that quick fixes in the industry just do not exist.

While the way search engines operate exactly is still an enigma, having a basic understanding of the way they work is an essential component of being an effective SEO specialist. Many still believe that results are based from every site on the internet; this is wholly unrealistic considering the huge volume of websites present on the web today. There are in fact no search engines that carry out this kind of searching, search queries are put through a database rather than the entire internet. Understanding this key principle is fundamental for success in SEO.

Search engines can find any website in the World Wide Web if they need to through links from other sites already included in their database. It is important for the SEO process that a search engine should not have to find your site through links, being included in the database is fundamental. This process can be quite simple with search engine crawlers or spiders indexing numerous sites on a regular basis.

Modern search engines use complex algorithms that vary greatly. The formula of these algorithms is naturally highly secretive making the SEO process difficult. With different search engines having different methods of searching, it is hard to please all at once; this is why SEO is such a lengthy process. There are however certain general characteristics that are consistent in all of the major search engines. Principally, the content on a website is of extreme importance; if the information on your website is relevant to the topic, this content remains a text only process as there are no search engines that are able to read picture information effectively. This is often termed as being ”picture blind”.

Hence part of the SEO process is producing content that has sufficient keywords and a large amount of relevant information. Effectively, if you have spent the time ensuring the information included on your site is relevant to either your products or services, this is a good starting block to achieve the high rankings you desire. Turning this content into high rankings is why you employ an SEO company, without knowledge of algorithms it is hard to get to the top.

Search engines today regularly change the way they operate meaning that your SEO efforts should be constant. While having good content is key, making sure this content is organised in a search engine friendly manner will increase chances of long term success. Avoid placing too many pictures and remember that the content should appeal to both artificial and human readers, following this advice should get you on the way to success.

Are Cash Gifting Programs Legitimate?

April 26, 2008 | Read the story »

By Merudh Patel

A source of much debate and confusion is the concept of cash gifting. Many people don”t have any idea what exactly cash gifting is, and those who do know what it is are concerned about its legality. Participating in such a program can open up many doors to its participants, but the first step is finding out what it is and how the program works. Most importantly, however, people looking to participate in a cash gifting program must find a plan that is safe, legitimate, and beneficial to its members.

What Is A “Gift” And How Do We Define It?

Cash giving is nothing new-it has been going on for hundreds of years. The difference is, now the concept has been transferred to the Internet. The Internet has allowed the programs to become more streamlined and connected. A cash giving program is a private group of individuals that allows them to give and receive cash and property from one another.

Cash gifting is somewhat controversial, because many people do not feel that it is legal. However, this is not true. Cash giving is based on the Constitutional right of individuals to give property, cash and other assets. In the United States, this process is regulated by Title 26 in the IRS Tax Code. This law states that one or more individuals can give a gift to another individual of up to $11,000 each per calendar year. There will be no tax liability to either the giver or receiver of the gift, and the gifts are not calculated into the gross income of the receiver. Cash giving is perfectly legal, and the benefits it provides are endless!

How To “Gift” The Smart Way

There is no substitute for doing your homework when it comes to assessing the available Cash Gifting programs. However, it will become clear very early on in the process that there are certain features which are essential in any successful program. It is wise to be cautious, however, as there are some poorly designed and conceived programs which can fall into the category of a “Scam”. Clearly, these need to be avoided at all costs. Selecting the right program for you should be a fairly straightforward process provided you ensure that your program of choice incorporates the following key features.

Any cash gifting program should be fairly flexible in how much participation it requires of you. For example, some of the more successful cash gifting programs might offer different levels of participation, in some cases entry level gifts could be a low as $100, rising to $10,000 per gift for the higher levels within the top programs. It is important that the different levels allow you to give cash gifts in amounts that you are comfortable with. Most people get into Gifting, initially, on a part-time basis, so it is very important that an individual is able to “work” the program and succeed with the minimum amount of effort and in the shortest time possible. In fact, the best programs will allow both full time and part time participation.

Many cash gifting programs are unsuccessful because their program depends on their members marketing and selling a product or service. The best cash gifting programs do not have this requirement. The core leadership of the group should be responsible “closing the deal″.

One dead giveaway of a program that is not legitimate is one that is structured pyramid-style. Many corporate organizations with similar goals are structured in such a way that only allows those at the top to reap the benefits. A true cash gifting program will be structured in a way that allows all participants to benefit equally.

Those who try to undermine the beauty and selflessness of cash gifting programs do not understand the true nature of the group-it follows God”s Law of Reciprocity. “Give and it shall be given unto you.”

The Truth About Network Marketing

April 26, 2008 | Read the story »

By Todd Ash

First, network marketing isn”t a pyramid scheme. Pyramids are programs similar to chain letters where people just invest money based on the promise that other people will put in money that will filtrate back to them and somehow, they”ll get rich. While some people do make a lot of money through network marketing, their financial benefit is always the result of their own dedicated efforts in building an organization that sells real products and services.

For a person to actually make money in a pyramid scheme, someone else has to lose money. But in network marketing, each person can multiply his or her efforts, skills and talents by helping others be successful.

Both of them get up very early in the It could be from network marketing. It could be from real estate.

They don”t know enough to provide valuable information that acts as a relationship builder, and most often, they don”t have the skills to set up an autoresponder account or a website. Most network marketing programs have information on how to generate leads, but if someone doesn”t have the skill-set to write a good autoresponder series, they”re left to rely on the one the company has provided. One of the central tenants in the promotional material about network marketing, is the power of duplication.

The story goes that you”ll refer 3 people, who”ll each refer 3 people, and so on This is truly the power of leverage, but the problem is that most people who sign up for programs have little to no experience either online or offline in building a business and networking it. Or, you could invest in some good quality courses and study them until you have more knowledge yourself. And, you could of course hire a writer with small business/internet marketing/network marketing experience to write the articles for you.

The term network marketing is generally used in two ways. It is used as a synonym for multi-level marketing and is often mistaken for a pyramid scheme. You cannot earn money from recruiting alone.

Sometimes it can be difficult to determine which network marketing business is legitimate and which is merely a scam. Would it not be great if you did not have to conduct face to face meetings at all? The way to avoid having to do all of that is to run your network marketing business by using the internet.

Did you know that many of those “get rich quick″ ads on TV are actually run to generate leads, to sell to you? They sell the same Network Marketing leads to others over and over and over again! Network Marketing is “made for the Net.” The Net and NETwork Marketing is a match made in heaven.

“InterNETwork Marketing” should be a huge success for the industry by now. But they don”t understand the Net. For example, some companies develop a very good “content site.” If it was the only one of its kind, it would likely do fairly well for one Network Marketing associate.

You must train your downline. In most cases with Network marketing your success is dependant on your downlines success.

The perfect product allows customers to see the value of the product without being coerced into purchasing it.

Social Networking is the new communication method for the new generation, so it probably is a useful business tool but also a big time waster! Biz opp leads, or business opportunity seeking leads, are a waste of money. Before considering purchasing any type of opportunity seeking leads for your MLM business, read this article.

One of the great things about network marketing is that it is a business that is more easily managed than most other businesses. It is more people friendly than many other business. Network marketing is not a particularly difficult business to operate compared to many others, but even so, some business acumen is required.

This can be acquired and learned with the right attitude. But one big problem lies in the wrong attitude that too many people have when they become a network marketer. If you opened a small grocery store, you wouldn”t just unlock the door, sit back and do nothing but wait for the cash to start pouring in. There would be a number of things that you would have to attend to, each day, in order for the business to prosper and grow.

Is Your mind creating multiplication or devastation in your business? This 8 CD series series will dramatically impact and improve the way you build success and wealth in Network Marketing Recruiting and retailing, plus enlarge your Home Business Success.
